Last week, as I prepared to preach from Philippians 2:1-4, I was convicted by the following quote from D.A. Carson:
“It is always deeply disturbing to find some professed Christians, members of the church, who think only of what they get. What a pathetically Christ-denying attitude! Give and give and give. We are called not only to enjoy the comforts of the gospel but also to pass them on.” (D.A. Carson, Basics for Believers: An Exposition of Philippians, page 61)
It was a good reminder for me that the comforts of the gospel are not intended to terminate with me, but should motivate me to the love of God and others.
